IL SANGUE DEI LAVORATORI STRANIERI È MENO ROSSO? IS THE BLOOD OF FOREIGN WORKERS LESS RED?

Ieri un’altra giornata drammatica, altre due vite spezzate sul lavoro. Due lavoratori stranieri che non torneranno più a casa: Nell’Astigiano, un uomo macedone di 50 anni ha perso la vita cadendo in un tino. Nel Vicentino, un ragazzo romeno di appena 20 anni è precipitato dal tetto di un capannone mentre lavorava in edilizia. A soli vent’anni, inghiottito da quella catena invisibile e letale di appalti, sub-appalti e sub-sub-appalti. La solita filiera dove tutti guadagnano e scaricano l'insicurezza e i rischi sull'ultimo anello della catena. I dati sono spietati: gli stranieri hanno un rischio di morire sul lavoro tre volte superiore (il 300% in più) rispetto ai lavoratori italiani. Svolgono i lavori più umili, faticosi e pericolosi. Guadagnano pochissimo, e oltre a pagare questo prezzo altissimo in termini di vite umane, devono subire anche il razzismo e la discriminazione. Tutti ci guadagnano, mentre agli ultimi non resta niente se non il pericolo quotidiano. È una vergogna inaccettabile. Il sangue non ha colore e non ha nazionalità. Dignità, diritti e sicurezza devono valere per tutti, senza eccezioni. Yesterday was another tragic day, with two more lives shattered on the job. Two foreign workers who will never return home: In the Asti area, a 50-year-old Macedonian man lost his life after falling into a vat. In the Vicenza area, a Romanian youth of just 20 fell to his death from the roof of a warehouse while working in construction. At only twenty years old, swallowed by that invisible and deadly chain of contracts, subcontracts, and sub-subcontracts. The usual supply chain where everyone profits while offloading insecurity and risk onto the very last link. The numbers are unforgiving: foreign workers face a risk of dying on the job three times higher (300% more) than Italian workers. They perform the most humble, grueling, and dangerous tasks. They earn next to nothing, and on top of paying this devastating toll in human lives, they also have to endure racism and discrimination. Everyone profits, while the workers at the bottom get nothing but daily peril. It is an unacceptable disgrace. Blood has no color and no nationality. Dignity, rights, and workplace safety must apply to everyone, without exception.
