UN RISULTATO STORICO: QUANDO LA POLITICA FA LA DIFESA DEI PIÙ DEBOLI. A HISTORIC RESULT: WHEN POLITICS STANDS UP FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE

— Carlo Soricelli Curatore dell'Osservatorio Indipendente di Bologna sui Morti sul Lavoro A HISTORIC RESULT: WHEN POLITICS STANDS UP FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE In 19 years of daily monitoring with the Bologna Independent Observatory on Workplace Deaths, I have seen and heard a lot. But today I must state with conviction that this young woman is doing what no one, in all these years, has ever done or even tried to do. The Honorable Chiara Gribaudo, President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Working Conditions, has achieved an extraordinary victory for justice and human dignity: the Chamber of Deputies has unanimously approved the law granting Free Legal Aid funded by the State for the families of victims of fatal workplace accidents. It was a historic result: 220 votes in favor out of 220 present, without a single vote against. Honorable Gribaudo strongly insisted on involving those who carry this pain firsthand, inviting the families of victims of workplace accidents to the Chamber to listen directly to the debate. Among them was the mother of Mattia Battistetti, who immediately reached out to share her joy over this result. It is an emotion that I will carry in my heart forever, always, always. As curator of the Bologna Observatory, I would also like to sincerely thank the representatives and members of parliament from the center-right who, alongside all political forces, showed the sensitivity and responsibility to vote in favor of this measure. Through this choice, they demonstrated that they are worthy representatives of the Italian people, turning a political debate into a landmark event and an immense act of civil dignity. Behind every tragedy at work lies immeasurable grief, too often compounded by an overwhelming legal and financial ordeal. Guaranteeing free legal assistance restores dignity to these families and asserts that the State does not abandon its citizens in their darkest hour. Honorable Chiara Gribaudo has demonstrated through actions what it means to lead with heart, competence, and determination. Given her vision and her ability to deliver concrete results, I would view her with great confidence as a candidate for Minister of Labor for the progressive coalition (Campo Largo). Thank you, Honorable Chiara Gribaudo, for your strength, and thank you to all political forces for writing this page of great humanity and civility! — Carlo Soricelli Curator of the Bologna Independent Observatory on Workplace Deaths
